NouvLR-202 | Site building engineer – testing & commissioning

Reporting to the Buildings Team T&C Sector Lead your main responsibility will be to provide site and office technical, administrative and logistical support. You will have the ability to supervise and coordinate the commissioning of the station in the presence of the Client and other interested parties.

You will also be called upon to gather the necessary information, coordinate the necessary people, to allow testing to be performed, the results formally captured, and determine that testing and commissioning has been performed correctly and thoroughly.

Responsabilities :
• Following instructions from the Sector Lead ensure the necessary conditions exist on site for a test or trial to commence;
• Manage all on-site daily commissioning activities;
• Take the lead on commissioning issues related to stations;
• Promote and monitor compliance with the project safety program, permit to work activities, and environmental protection requirements in co-operation with the Health & Safety and Environmental Coordinators;
• Contribute to the development of a commissioning plan and manage subcontractor activities;
• Complete daily reports, report on the commissioning progress, advise of potential problems or schedule conflicts;
• Assure commissioning compliance with design requirements;
• Provide technical direction to testing crews as needed; ensure work is performed to applicable QA/QC, standards, and according to drawings and specifications;
• After the completion of tests and trials ensure any deficiencies are closed out;
• After successful completion of the tests and trials and acceptance of the works from the subcontractor / vendor, and prior to the handover to the Client, ensure the necessary maintenance activities are performed;
• If necessary, support the construction activities by providing technical or administrative support to the Site Superintendent;
• Assist with preparation of the three-week look ahead schedule;
• Using site knowledge, prepare procedures and working methods;
• Help to verify the conformity of the activities carried out;
• Oversee the application of quality assurance programs, quality control, pre-operational verification and commissioning;
• Maintain site contact with contractors and/or suppliers.

• University degree in engineering with 5+ years of experience in commissioning;
• Minimum of five years of experience in infrastructure construction, permit to work, lock out tag out, configuration management, documentation approval;
• Strong knowledge of applicable standards means and methods of construction and commissioning;
• Knowledge of various construction disciplines including earthworks, grading, bridge/structure construction, highway/roadway/ Railway, light rail construction, concrete works, survey, etc;
• Functional knowledge of planning and control methods;
• Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
• Current driver license;
• Bilingualism in oral and written communication (French and English).
